Suzanne was introduced to SNAME in 1983 when her first boss at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding suggested that SNAME would be good for her career. A green engineer fresh out of school, SNAME offered her the perfect opportunity to meet industry experts. Looking back 26 years later, Suzanne states, “I think he was right….Where else would I have been able to meet executive management in an informal setting?” In her first official position, she served on the Hampton Roads Section House Committee, where duties included checking in members at events and meetings, collecting the money and distributing nametags. Suzanne later moved on to other roles, including Hampton Roads Section Chair, which provided exposure at the national level and broadened her network. From there, Suzanne served as the Regional Vice President for the Atlantic South Region, worked locally on the Williamsburg “Ship Production Symposium,” and collaborated with the Chesapeake Section on the Annual Meeting in Washington DC.
With over two and half decades of experience with SNAME, Suzanne is optimistic about the future of the Society. She sees exciting new energy at Headquarters and SNAME overall with progress integrating new ideas, better communication, and information sharing – all the “right things” for SNAME's growth.
SNAME is truly a better Society with Suzanne’s dynamic presence and leadership.
