William Hurley joined The Glosten Associates in 1977, after graduating from the University of Michigan with a B.S.E. in naval architecture. He has served the marine industry for 32 years, specializing in commercial vessel design and construction.

The Glosten Associates, Inc. is a Seattle-based consulting firm of naval architects, marine engineers and ocean engineers serving clients worldwide. Founded in 1958, the firm’s design experience has been primarily in commercial and public sector vessels including, research vessels, cruise vessels, and passenger/car ferries, special-purpose platforms, tugs and barges. Glosten has specialized expertise in marine transportation planning, marine construction consulting, and state-of-the-art engineering analysis capabilities.

William Hurley has participated in all aspects of naval architecture work, serving on numerous new design programs and major vessel conversions. He has applied his engineering skills to the design of self-propelled workboats, research vessels, ro-ro passenger ferries, and numerous specialty vessels.

William Hurley has co-authored numerous technical papers, and is an active member in the Society of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineers (SNAME), other maritime societies and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Washington.

Named President of The Glosten Associates in 2001, he currently divides his time between managing a successful, growing 67-person engineering firm and working with clients and staff on special projects. Glosten’s strategy for success has always been in developing clients rather than projects, and Hurley continues to build on this tradition.
