July 2010, Rosa II

The Rosa II, a 41 ft. clipper bow ketch was launched on July 3, 1960 at Paul E. Luke, Inc. in East Boothbay, Maine. On July 3, 2010, at the same place where she was launched, many SNAME members, including SNAME President, Keith Michel, will be present to celebrate her 50th anniversary. The Rosa II's history speaks to the legacy of SNAME. The craft was designed by long-time SNAME members/leaders Mandell Rosenblatt (1891-1966) and Lester Rosenblatt (1920-2003), founders of M. Rosenblatt & Son, Inc. (MR&S). Lester Rosenblatt was a past President of SNAME as well as a Land Medalist. The Mandell and Lester Rosenblatt Undergraduate Scholarship is endowed in their memory.

Today the Rosa II is owned and skippered by former SNAME President and Land Medalist, Bruce Rosenblatt, President of the successor company to MR&S, Bruce S. Rosenblatt & Associates, LLC. Bruce, currently the SNAME Treasurer, and the staff of BSR, continue the Rosenblatt tradition of service to SNAME.
