May, 2010 - Robert Allan Fireboat

The pictured all-aluminum firefighting and emergency services vessel was designed by Robert Allan Limited of Vancouver, Canada – a company with dozens of SNAME members. Its production was managed by SNAME Member Michael A. Mason, owner and operator of Mason Marine Designs, Inc. in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.

The vessel’s primary role is as a firefighting vessel. Its secondary purpose is as a fast water ambulance for the Portland-area residents of in Casco Bay. To serve this function the vessel is outfitted with a well-equipped medical services room that is an exact replica of the interior of the recently-delivered City of Portland ambulances, complete with all the emergency and medical equipment found in a land-based ambulance.

SNAME rotates the SNAME.org main banner picture on a monthly basis.  Members are encouraged to submit digital photos of the vessels, platforms and other craft resulting from member work for inclusion on SNAME.org main banner.  Only high-quality, horizontally oriented digital images of content with an obvious connection to SNAME members will be considered for inclusion.  For consideration, members should submit photos with a short description to SNAME Communications & Web Strategist Mark Eichler at meichler@sname.org.
