October, 2010 - Waller Marine Josefa Rufina I

Waller Marine’s power barge, Josefa Rufina I, was launched in August 2010 and will be installed in a protected basin in Tacoa, Venezuela, a short distance east of Caracas International Airport. The deck area is literally the size of a football field and the top of the stack towers over 100 feet above the main deck.

The basin’s four sides are constructed with sheet pile and the entrance is closed by steel caissons, which are also designed and constructed by WMI. The possibility of fouling of the seawater in the basin is mitigated by the addition of seawater circulating pumps that also control the mean water level inside the basin.

Numerous SNAME members serve among the people of
Waller Marine.
