September, 2010 - FDNY Three Forty Three

The Fire Department of the City of New York welcomes the Three Forty Three fire boat to its Maritime Operations this summer. The state of the art fireboat has the capacity to pump 50,000 per minute – the greatest pumping capacity of any fireboat in the world. The vessel has been the subject of substantial media attention in recent months, including an in-depth video feature by CNN.

The 140 foot long Three Forty Three was designed by Robert Allan, Ltd. and built by Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. Over two-dozen SNAME Members serve among the people of these companies.
