society open to all
students regardless of discipline to promote knowledge exchange
within the marine community.
Mission Statement:
The UoS-SNAME Student Section aims to
create a society for students based on diversity and desire for
knowledge exchange within the Marine and Wider Marine industry for
intellectual simulation and professional development.
Founder’s Vision:
The Founder seeks
to promote knowledge exchange through monthly student led seminars
and a leadership development program. Through the various programs
offered by the section, he hopes to allow for holistic development of
the student member alongside his/her academic studies.
The founding Chairman also seeks to
create the institutional knowledge to allow for the seamless transfer
of The Society to future executive committees with the aim to grow
the society in becoming an integral fabric of a student’s
experience at the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean &
Marine Engineering.
The Department:
The UoS-SNAME
section is run from the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean &
Marine (NAOME) Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. The
department is one of the oldest and most illustrious Naval
Architecture departments in the world. It was founded in 1882 and
formerly existed as the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine
Engineering as a department of both the Universities of Glasgow and
Strathclyde. http://www.strath.ac.uk/naome/
