The 7th UoS SNAME Symposium and Networking Event, organized by the University of Strathclyde SNAME Student Section in collaboration with the SNAME Western Europe Section, was successfully held on February 23rd and 24th, 2024, in Glasgow.

On Friday, February 23rd, the event commenced with the Annual Symposium, hosted at RC440, Royal College, University of Strathclyde. This year’s theme focused on decarbonisation and onboard carbon capture mechanisms, with attendees engaging in a series of technical presentations and insightful discussions. Esteemed speakers from academia and industry shared their expertise, sparking thoughtful conversations about the challenges and innovations shaping the future of naval architecture and marine engineering.
The event also featured networking coffee breaks, providing participants with the opportunity to interact with speakers and fellow attendees, fostering connections between students and professionals in the field. The Symposium proved to be an enriching experience for everyone present.
The weekend continued on Saturday, February 24th, with a networking event held at the Kelvin Hydrodynamics Laboratory. Guided by Dr. Saishuai Dai, participants explored this world-class testing facility, which supports research and commercial testing for wind, wave, and tidal energy devices. The visit included demonstrations of cutting-edge testing techniques, offering attendees a closer look at the innovative work taking place in the NAOME Department. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for attendees to connect with one another in an engaging and dynamic environment, further strengthening the bonds between students and professionals.
