
On November 3rd, 2023, the SNAME Western Europe Section hosted its 13th Annual UK Symposium in Central London, under the theme “Digitalisation and our Changing Workspace” The event took place at the Langham Court Hotel and featured a packed schedule of technical seminars led by prominent speakers, including industry experts from Cadmatic, Siemens, and Wärtsilä, as well as academics from the University of Strathclyde.
The Symposium provided an excellent opportunity for networking, offering students and professionals a chance to connect with leaders in naval architecture and marine engineering. Attendees gained valuable insights into digitalisation’s impact on the industry, with sessions focusing on operational challenges, vendor innovations, and future developments.
On November 4th, the trip continued with a group visit to the HMS Belfast, a historic warship permanently moored on the River Thames. The visit included a networking event held on board, allowing participants to explore the ship’s legacy while fostering professional connections in a unique setting.
This two-day event was a memorable experience for everyone involved, combining technical knowledge, heritage, and community building. We are proud to create opportunities that bridge academic learning and professional engagement for the future of our field!
