The Committee 2017-2018

Kritonas is a Cypriot 3^rd year undergraduate student in the dpt. of NAOME, studying Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering. He has achieved meritorious standard for the previous two academic years. During his 2^nd year of studies he has served as the Vice-President of SUNAS (Strathclyde University Naval Architecture Society) and as the class representative of his class. Furthermore, he has served as an Army Cadet and as a Second Lieutenant in the National Guard of Cyprus. He is enthusiastic, energetic and he likes volunteering and being involved in societies. During the previous summers, he has been working as an Apprentice Engineer at Celestyal Cruises, becoming familiar with all the operations carried out in the engine room. As far as his interests are concerned, he is passionate about table tennis, photography and playing the guitar.

Nikolaos is a 3^rd year student in the department of NAOME. He has been awarded from the department for his meritorious standards on the first year. He started his engagement with the university societies from the first year of his studies by being the secretary of Strathclyde university naval architecture society (SUNAS). More than that, he is a student member of SNAME, RINA and IMarEST. The first working experience of Nikolaos was at the summer of 2016 where he worked as Trainee naval architect and Marine engineer of the company Yacht service group S.A (Greece), at this company he was mostly involved with Project management, yacht survey and consultancy services. Nikolaos is a holder of the offshore sailing certificate and the speed boat licence. He is a passionate sailor and he loves being at sea sailing with friends. Last but not least, his passion for sea is leading him to search for new experiences and knowledge. 

Dimitrios is a 3^rd Year student in the Dpt. of NAOME, studying Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering. Managing to enter directly in the 2^nd Year of the course he immediately got involved with Strathclyde’s Naval Architecture Society, SUNAS, becoming the treasurer for the academic year 2016-2017. He has also won the Strath 70 group project, for building the fastest yacht out of all the 2^nd Year students. His love for the sea and the maritime world derives from a very young age since he traveled a lot with passenger ships to the island of Chios in Greece, but what really pushed him into becoming a Naval Architect was his father, a very well-known and respected man in the maritime industry. Dimitrios dream is to follow his father’s footsteps, achieving as much as he did and more.

Iliya is a 3^rd year student in the department of NAOME. He has so far achieved meritorious standard in all years and has used the acquired knowledge to help others as a student mentor. After finishing his First year of studies, he was awarded the Wyndham William’s prize for achieving the best overall score in First year mathematics at the University of Strathclyde. He recently undertook a summer placement as a trainee designer at Vripack Engineering Ltd. His interest in Naval Architecture finds its roots in a Bulgarian city, situated on the Danube river and an early interest in mathematics and physics. Apart from being a passionate student, his interests involve volleyball, snowboarding and cooking.  

Adamantios is a 3^rd year Naval Architecture student and an active member of SNAME since the first year of his studies following SNAME to every organised event throughout these years. He is ambitious, resourceful, practical and an independent personality with social skills and team working experience, always patient and willing to accept and carry out any tasks

Alan is a 3rd year Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Student from Malaysia. As a recognition of meritorious standard of his studies, he have been included in the Dean's List. Alan have attended the SNAME Maritime Convention 2016, the first time University of Strathclyde SNAME Student Section sending representatives to attend the SMC. Apart from being member of SNAME, Alan is also member of RINA and SUNAS. He also hold a GMDSS Short Range Certificate issued by Royal Yachting Association. He loves to cook, attend football matches, and do some photography during his spare time.

Jason is a 4^th Year Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering student. He came all the way from Malaysia to the UK to study Marine Engineering, and that pretty much sums up his interest in maritime studies (His father doesn’t own a shipyard). He is a recipient of the University of Strathclyde Faculty of Engineering Excellence Scholarship and the Chambers of Commerce & Industry of Malaysia Science Technology Award. Other than SNAME, he is also a student member of RINA and IMarEST. Apart from that, he also has a level 2 powerboat license. During his free time, he enjoys admiring ships, playing table tennis, hiking and taking pictures. Last but not least, he is currently unemployed (jobless), feel free to hire him for any internships. 

Fotios is a 5th year student in the department of NAOME. He has achieved meritorious standard for all his academic years so far and he is being an active student mentor for the subject of ‘Marine Engineering Fundamentals’. He is a student member of RINA and IMarEST and has previously served as Vice-President of SUNAS (Strathclyde University Naval Architecture Society) and Chairman of the University of Strathclyde SNAME Student Section. He has been an engineer intern in the technical departments of Oceandynamic's Marine Engineering & trading agency and of Neda's Maritime Agency. His latest summer placement was as a Research intern in the Dpt. of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering of the University of Strathclyde. His love for the sea and the maritime world derives from early memories of his travelling with merchant ships under the captaincy of his father. Fotios' passion for sailing and literature occupy his spare time. His ambition is to leave his mark in the field of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
