14th Annual SNAME WES Event

From 24 to 26 October 2024, the University of Strathclyde's SNAME Student Section, in collaboration with the SNAME Western Europe Section (WES), organised a memorable trip to London for the SNAME WES Symposium and Networking Event.

The group departed from Glasgow Central Station on 24 October and arrived in London later that day, staying at the Royal National Hotel, conveniently located near Russell Square. This strategic location provided attendees with easy access to the venues and allowed them to explore the vibrant city during their free time.

On Friday, 25 October, participants attended the SNAME WES Symposium at the Little Ship Club, London. Starting at 9:30 AM, the Symposium featured insightful presentations and discussions on a variety of maritime engineering topics, delivered by prominent speakers and industry leaders. Attendees had the chance to deepen their knowledge of current trends and innovations in the maritime sector while engaging in meaningful discussions with professionals and peers.

The trip concluded on Saturday, 26 October, with a networking event at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. Starting at 11:00 AM, this informal gathering provided attendees with an excellent opportunity to connect with professionals, industry leaders, and fellow SNAME members, while exploring the museum’s fascinating exhibitions and maritime heritage.

The event was a great success, offering participants a perfect blend of knowledge sharing, professional development, and networking. The group returned to Glasgow inspired by the insights gained from the Symposium and the connections formed during the Networking Event.

The University of Strathclyde's SNAME Student Section is proud to have facilitated such an enriching experience and looks forward to organising more opportunities like this in the future!
